I have always been interested in drama therapy so it was a real treat to have a class dedicated to drama therapy this afternoon. I was a theater minor in college and I've really missed the fun, freedom creativity and insight that participating in drama activities can engender. I enjoyed our "sculpting" activity and I found it very interesting to see how various people created so many different story lines. This class reignited my passion and excitement for drama therapy, and I hope to learn more about it and engage in its practice more often!
I have never really been involved in drama, so this class was a little intense for me, but I enjoyed observing and learning about the technique. I have enjoyed spending time with the Drama after-school club at the school that I work at this year. It is a lot of fun to watch the kids let go and stop worrying about what other people think of them. A lot of "cool kids" in the middle school sign up for the class thinking it will be an easy grade, and end up getting a lot out of it once they loosen up (the teacher does a great job with this). I think that it is so great that there are so many different ways to get people to express their emotions, whether the feelings are conscious or subconscious.
