I'm a huge fan of the musical "Sunday in the Park with George." For those who don't know, "Sunday in the Park with George" is a musical by Stephen Sondheim that tells the story of Georges Seurat drawing A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Seeing the pastels and at a loss for what to draw next I wanted to try my hand at the idea of pointillism. I was limited on time so I gave myself an outline within to work and went ahead and filled the tree trunk in with colored pencil. For the leaves, I found the process very relaxing and yet also tiring. I can only imagine how much discipline it must have taken for Seurat to fill an entire canvas with just little dots and specs of paint. I really do love the end result though. It makes for such a beautiful effect!A closed forum for the NYU Silver School of Social Work Creative Arts Therapy Elective.
